Davis Imperial Cleaners Creates Clean Room Preservation Laboratory

First Fabricare Specialist in the Midwest to Offer On-Site Clean Room for Preservation Restoration and Examination of Wedding Gowns, Couture Garments and Specialty Textiles!

Chicago, IL (March 6, 2009) - Davis Imperial Cleaners recognized as Chicago’s Best Couture Cleaner™ by Chicago magazine and the only certified licensed wedding gown restoration and preservation textile specialist™ in Chicago is proud to announce they have completed construction of a clean room. This space is the first in the Midwest to be utilized for the examination and preservation of wedding gowns, christening gowns, designer and couture garments and eveningwear as well as vintage wardrobe items and textiles.

The clean room was designed to introduce filtered air into a closed space creating a positive air environment. This positive air pressure prevents airborne contaminants from the outside environment from entering the space. This room is also equipped with a menu of state of the art equipment and lighting that allows for the examination process to be conducted with a wide spectrum of light wavelengths. Visible stains are now more easily identifiable, therefore avoiding the set methods to remove stains that typically require a set order to avoid potential problems. “Invisible stains, those that are not normally visible to the naked eye become visible, says Rick Wood, co-owner of Davis Imperial. Through a proper evaluation which includes both a horizontal and vertical inspection, we can more readily determine what chemicals should be utilized to protect embellishments and trims (including beads and buttons), identify the origin of a stain and its category, determine fluorescent dye breakdown, see chlorine stains on silks as well as wear and deterioration and the nature of unidentifiable stains. Damage to fabric such as shifting, snags, weak areas and other fabric defects will now become apparent. This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of all that will be possible for our technicians to accomplish for our clients treasured garments.”
